Crate training a dog is a great way to work on your patience
Crate training a dog can be an exercise in patience and consistence. You must make sure that your dog is aware of the fact that no matter what he thinks on the subject, that he is going to like going into that crate. Crate training a dog is necessary. Every dog will need to go to the vet one day, and the safest way of taking him is in a crate.
Make sure that the crate is big enough for your dog now, and if he gets bigger. There should always be enough room for your dog to turn around in. It is hard enough when crate training a dog to get him in the crate, but if you are squeezing him in, it will be impossible to make him believe that the crate is somewhere that he wants to be.
There are many books on the subject of crate training a dog. Be sure to pick up at least one. It should make it easier when training if you have knowledge of some tricks to make it easier. Things like putting in his favourite toys or blanket to make the crate an environment that he will enjoy. Anything that makes your job easier will make it easier for your dog to learn to like going into the crate. And getting your dog to like going into that crate is priceless.
