A cat door can be beneficial to everyone

A cat door gives your cat the chance to choose whether or not he wants to be inside or outside. And as any cat owner can tell you, some times that is the hardest choice for a cat has to make in his day. A cat door will give him the freedom to run in and out of the house without you having to play doorman for him, unless of course you enjoy playing doorman.

In that case, forget about getting him a cat door. If you want to get your exercise by jumping up off the couch every 20 minutes to let him in or out again. Or if you really enjoy standing in front of an open door for 2 hours while dinner burns and your feet get cold waiting for the cat to make up his mind. If that is really how you wish to spend your day, don’t buy a door for your cat.

Most people enjoy the fact that cats are independent. A cat door only helps to further his independence. If he doesn’t need to rely on you to leave the house it will make his life happier and yours. After all, it means you get some freedom too. And everyone benefits from that.
