The joys of having an animal around
There are many joys in having an animal in the house. Their constant companionship is always a wonderful reminder that we are loved and not alone. They have a wonderful ability to make us feel young and needed. After all what can make you feel more needed than an animal? They will depend on you for everything from food and water to exercise. Not to mention that they will also need you to teach them discipline.
I will admit that having an animal in the house is also a large responsibility. But the joys and companionship they give back is more than worth the expense and hassle that comes with taking care of and raising any pet. They are our children in a lot of ways. We raise them and teach them right from wrong. They never really grow past their dependence on us and they never move out or ask for more money. So in some ways they are better than kids are.
There is one more thing about having an animal around the house. In the middle of the night, when all the strange noises of the house settling start and you aren’t quite sure what that squeak was…you blame it on them. It was the cat who made that thump noise or it was the iguana that started to squeak. It helps to keep your imagination in check if you can blame strange sounds on your pets.
