Carolina Reptile & Exotic Animal Show at Dorton Arena on the NC State Fairgrounds

Another wild and exotic time is set for the weekend of September 4th and 2nd at the Carolina Reptile & Exotic Animal Show at Dorton Arena on the NC State Fairgrounds. This is the shows 6th year in Raleigh and it will be our biggest yet with 145 breeder booths and displays.

The Carolina Reptile & Exotic Animal Show is sponsored by Critters U.S.A., Birdtalk and Reptiles magazine. We have some very special guest at this years event including Mr. Roark Ferguson, the famous New Jersey Bird Man and Mark Andrews. The show is designed to be both entertaining and an educational experience providing the opportunity for animal lovers to meet and learn from the nation’s top exotic animal, reptile, and bird breeders.

The $10,000 Reptile Wheel of Fortune comes to Raleigh with 100's of prizes. Ten of the 30 slots on the wheel will have prizes at all times. The show will include the sale of exotic animals, birds and reptiles at wholesale prices. There will be seminars allowing the chance for interaction between experienced breeders and collectors as well as the chance for the novice to learn about reptiles, exotic animals and birds.

The many events will include an exotic animal petting zoo featuring Bubba the Camel, baby lions, baboon, buffalo, patagonian cavy, Asian Leopard, antelope, American Buffalo, llamas, pygmy sheep, zebu, Scottish Highlander calf, miniature goats , wallabies, miniature donkeys, miniature horses, kangaroos, exotic birds and large reptiles including Clyde the 18 foot, 250 pound Burmese Python.

The Amazing Pet Tricks contest will take place Saturday September 4th at 3:00pm. Does your gerbil turn somersaults? Do you have a bird that sings show tunes or a shagging sugar glider? A snake that is charmed by in the flute? Can your ferret shoot hoops? Does your monkey grind an organ? If you have a talented pet that fits into one of three categories bring them on! The categories are birds, ferrets and exotic pets or reptiles.

So far contestants include Bubba the camel, birds that roller skate in a race, Iggy the iguana that does amazing tricks, a dog that plays the piano, dancing chickens and Bacon the Potbelly pig. In the past, television scouts have attended this event looking for talent and this is where the Chicken Man was discovered. For more information, see pet training aids.
