International forum for pet supplies experts
Over 22,000 trade visitors from over 100 countries travelled to Nürnberg for the last Interzoo in 2002. Most of the visitors came from Germany, but many market players also travelled from Italy, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria and Great Britain.
The more than 1,000 exhibitors from 43 countries offered a comprehensive survey of new products from the international pet supplies industry and the latest trends in the respective countries. The exhibition promoter Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe GmbH again expects just as many exhibitors at Interzoo 2004 and slight growth of the net display space to over 40,000 m².
Leading exhibitor countries besides Germany will probably be the USA, Italy, the People's Republic of China, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Among experts
Admission to Interzoo in 2004 is again only possible for representatives from the pet supply trade, veterinary surgeons, specialist authorities and relevant commercial users on presentation of trade visitor's proof of identity.
The admission conditions ensure that the exhibiting companies reach their target groups as accurately as possible and Interzoo visitors can expect exhibitors to be prepared for visits by experts, explains Klaus Oechsner, President of the Zentralverband Zoologischer Fachbetriebe e.V.
Another condition that also applies in 2004: "The pet's well-being has priority at Interzoo, so the standards of the German Protection of Animals Act also apply to exhibitors from abroad, says Klaus Oechsner.
All companies must register presentations of live pets and adapt the form of keeping them to the directives and provisions applicable in Germany. Unregistered presentations of animals or presentations that do not comply with the conditions can also be prohibited during the exhibition.
Examples of presentations not allowed are parrots on leads, ornamental fish in column and slimline wall-mounted aquariums or reptiles in mini-terrariums.
