Red Cross offers class in pet first aid
Performing CPR or First Aid on a person is almost second nature. Many think nothing of it. But what if the medical emergency involves a dog or cat? Would you know what to do? The Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross wants to make sure by offering a class in Pet First Aid.
The course provides assistance and guidance to people whose pets are ill or injured. Participants will learn symptoms and care for common ailments and emergencies, instructions for creating a first aid kit, and tips on maintaining the pet’s health and well-being.
Performing CPR, treating lacerations and broken bones, and caring for pets that have ingested poison will be covered in the class as well as other illnesses and injuries.
The Pet First Aid class will be held at the new Red Cross Livonia Service Center at 36650 W. Five Mile Rd. in Livonia. The four-hour course begins at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday February 17, and the $25 fee includes course cost and materials. Interested participants can register for the class by calling 734-542-0442.
